New Painting Idea

Ok, so painted body parts is not a new idea, nor is finger-painting. But I did have some art time in the studio, and we wanted to so a bloody handprint on a canvas as a study for a series of paintings.
It sort of worked out, but we’re still working on the concept.

Movember Mo

Just finished up a marathon of moustache growing, and my face is sufficiently magnumized for the month. Going to shave it off tomorrow with a new razor (bought by the girlfriend).
Raised $295 for prostate cancer research, and the tally isn’t over yet. I want to to thank everyone who donated to this cause, and hope to see you next year with another socially awkward soup-strainer.

FUEL

I’ll be attending the FUEL exhibition on May 14th, 2011, at Minds Eye Studio, hosted by Jennifer Gough. I’ll have several new works on display, along with several other artists.

In celebration of our 5th anniversary Minds Eye Studio Art will be hosting FUEL.
FUEL is an art exhibition inspired by the concept of creative ideas acting as fuel for artists. Posing the question What Fuels your passion? What drives you to create?
This exhibition is centered around the creative processes, muses and the inspiration of artists. It explores the idea of fuel as a creative motivator, a conceptual feeding of the mind.
In turn, food can also be considered fuel. By partnering with the Food Bank of Waterloo Region we hope to combine feeding the mind and filling the belly by selling original works of art and collecting donations for the food bank. For every donation guests will be given a ticket which will be entered into a draw at the end of the night. We will be giving away some amazing prizes generously donated by our sponsors.
Doors will open at 7:30 pm. Please come out and join us for an inspirational evening of Art, Community, and enlightenment!
Sponsors include Sloane & Pinchen, barristers and solicitors, Weiland Ford, Oomph Organic, Monster Farm, Becky Williamson RMT, and Andrea Martin Photography. Center in The Square, THEMUSEUM, and Little Mushroom catering.

New Inspiration Cloud

Found a neat little app which sets up a cloud of images, similar to the one found on some WordPress sites. Clicking on an image takes you to an associated link. I’ve adapted this for Movable Type’s asset manager.

Movember Gentleman’s Wrap up Party

Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for prostate cancer. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

There’s a big wrap-up party at the end of the month:
The Event- Movember “Gentleman’s Wrap up Party”
The Date- November 28th (3-8pm)
Venue- Chicopee Ski Resort
The event will be a mixer of Movember fun events and fund raising, this includes a Vip Silent Art Auction.
Live Dj, new menu samples, and a great bar!

FYI, I’ve got two pieces that will be offered up for auction at the party. Come bid on them, and a part of the proceeds will go to Prostate Cancer Canada.
Here are the two pieces:
